Animal Success Stories
As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek! Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes. We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story! Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Vala
Hello,
Vala is doing great. She has been growing fast and has quickly become part of our family. She is up to date on shots and healthy as can be. Thank you again for giving us this opportunity! I have attached a picture of Vala.
Thank you again,
Ryan
Vahbiz
Vahbiz/Casey is doing great and has adjusted very well. We also have a 10 month old black lab mix and we were worried about how they would get along but Casey is one tough puppy. They play tug-of-war with toys and sometimes I will find them together in the bigger crate sleeping. They share even the small dog beds or they will insist on playing or sleeping under my desk (picture attached). She is chewing on everything and teaching my kids the benefits of putting things away!
Casey is doing her job very well which is making my 12 year old daughter happy. She sleeps in her bed at night; curled up at her feet and follows her everywhere.
Casey did have worms but that has been taken care of with a trip to the vet. She is not housebroken yet, but we are still working on that. She is crate trained.
The whole adoption process was relatively easy. The hardest part was being patient. The only thing that would make the process better is if some of the paperwork could be filled out before picking up the dogs and if we didn't have to pick up the dogs all at the same time at Petco. It was a bit of a madhouse.
What you do is commendable and Susan Werner did a wonderful job taking care of the puppies. She was quick to respond to e-mail and any questions we had.
Thanks,
Fiji
Hi there - Fiji is doing wonderfully! She is accustomed to our routine now, and is well-known in the neighborhood. She loves our daily walks and our local parks, which we frequent on weekends.
She looks really healthy now, having gained a little weight (14.1 # now) and her hair has filled out some more. We get compliments on her everywhere we go - "so cute", "so playful", "such interesting coloring", "a jack russell?", etc. She gets a shower every weekend and hair shampooed. We haven't had her officially "groomed" yet, but will soon (her nails need trimming, etc.)
The week after we adopted her, we brought her to the Rescue's vet, and she got to see her puppies, who were there to be fixed! We brought her to our vet in Stuart the following week for a "getting aquainted" appointment and got some ear medicine, ear wash and skin conditioner, all of which she needed.
I was home full-time with her for her first 2 weeks with us, and felt guilty when I had to go back to work full-time. Thankfully, she'd been crate-trained, and we got a medium-sized crate for her while we're at work and our son's at school. I lured her in with new toys and treats, as I needed to, and now she goes in readily. I'm able to go home for lunch most days, and have a friend who walks her at lunchtime when I can't. My son gets home first, about 2:30pm, and they play in the afternoon.
She loves to eat, chews on everything she can find, and always wants to play. She has adapted beautifully, and is a tremendous blessing to our family. We presently don't have a digital camera that works, but I'll send along photos when I can.
That's it for now -
Pat
Taboo
We kept the name Taboo b/c she was already responding to it but my daughter gave her the middle name Socks b/c of those adorable white paws. Taboo is such a good addition to our family. We all love her so much. Taboo is an awesome pup...she is pretty much house trained, knows to sit on command, and likes car rides. We are working on fetching the ball and coming when called. She is very smart. We have her on Wellness dog food which she loves. We only give our pup the best! She got her rabies shot and last puppy shots the last time she was at the vet for her mange. Her hair is slowly coming back thank God! My daughter and Taboo are best friends! We love our Tabby!
Pictures are attached so you can see my angels!! :)

Angilina
Hi I was going through your Website and noticed there was no pictures of Angelina. We adopted he 5/03/09. She is doing great! She is full of energy and very healthy. Angelina or Angie as we call her LOVES going to the beach and swiming. She is Also so sweet and loving. I tell my husband she looks scary (because of the Pitbull in her)..but the most harm she could do is lick you to death.
