Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Chica
Chica

Hi Kathy, Chica is doing great! She has gained some weight and is not as nervous as she was at the beginning. She has become part of the family and even likes to join my other dogs in their crates, but they don't seem to mind. She is just about housebroken at this point, so things are going very well. She is a wonderful little dog and my kids love her. Thanks, Susan Gold

Barkley
Barkley

Barkley is doing great! We love him and he loves us. We will send pictures. Jerry&Barkley

Hal
Hal

I can't tell you how happy my fiance and I both are to have Sadie (we changed her name from Hal shortly after getting her home and getting to know her personality a little better - it actually took about a week to decide on her name). She is the most amazing little kitty. Since her first night here at home with us, she has slept on my pillow with me at night. A portion of the pillow was covered with her special purple fleece blanket I got for her the day she was adopted. She curled right up on it and that is where she sleeps to this day. You can see in one of the pictures attached where she is on the pillow next to my fiance, Scott. It took a few days and some patience on everyone's part for our kitty, Satch, and Sadie to get along. Now that they have become friends, which only took about 4 days, they can't be separated. I don't know how my kitty survived without a friend before Sadie. They are inseperable now. They eat together, at times sleep together, and are constantly chasing each other around the house playing - it's the cutest thing. Thank you for everything you do as an organization. You are good, kind hearted people providing a wonderful service for people like Scott and I, as well as helping out animals in need of good homes. I was so happy to have found you. Everyone working for A Second Chance was a pleasure and made our adoption go thorugh smoothly. A million thanks!!!! Sincerelly, Rebecca Carney & Scott Gilleland

Zena
Zena

Hi Kathy, ZENA now Jill is doing great. We are still battling mange but Dr Fox has her on an oral medication that seems to be working. Since evening one Jill has been comfortable and fitting in soooo well. Did not even cry the first night in her kennel. We have been enjoying everything about her. Barbara did a fantastic job raising her!!! The adoption was very smooth and everyone involved so kind! Thank you, Judy Fraser

Amaretto
Amaretto

Kathy, Macey (Amaretto) is doing great! She is such a loving, energetic dog. She was already crate trained and goes right in when it is bedtime. Macey really loves my daughter Courtney. They go rollerblading together every day and are working on playing fetch. Macey loves to ride in the car, so I take her on my daily school runs. She had her first vet appointment since we got her and got a clean bill of health. She has gained 5 lbs! Please tell Ruth thank you for the puppy pictures of Macey that she sent me. We have one of them as our computer wallpaper!! She was such a cute puppy. Thanks again for all the work that you do and the help you gave us in finding Macey. Here are some pictures of "Macey's" first bath. I'm not sure who got wetter or enjoyed it more! Thanks again, Susan Runnels
