Animal Success Stories
As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek! Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes. We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story! Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Butterscotch
Kathy: Hello
About a month ago I went on your second chance web site under the guest book tab and wrote about Butterscotch . I also hit the contact us button and wrote a paragraph and sent several pictures.
Last December we lost our cat of 16 years to health issues. At that time I didn't think I could have another cat as it was so hard for our family when he died.
On February 15th I had a total hip replacement, and one day after physical therapy on my walker we went into pet smart to get a gift certificate for my son at college that has a cat. I saw Butterscotch and he was sleeping in the cube with his legs up. I told me husband then, that I had to have him. I was very persistent in calling your agency and finally it happened. I really thought he was the most precious cat I had ever seen.
What's funny is that due to my hip I was not supposed to be out at all, other than going to the doctor. The night we adopted I could barely stand on my walker I was in so much pain. My husband and I purchased everything we could think of for Butterscotch. The woman from your agency that met us was great, I don't remember her name but she was wonderful.
I believe that Butterscotch has helped my healing process. He is an absolute delight, and I am so glad we walked into pet smart that night. We love him dearly. I have enclosed several pictures.
I don't think this email will hold all of the photos I want to send you, so I will send another email.
Thank you for Butterscotch
Donald
Kathy,
We changed his name to Bo. My wife's name is Beth, my daughter is Brittney,
my son is Ben so we have a thing for "B". He is doing great, we love him
and he loves us. I run/walk him 1.7 miles around our neighborhood at least
three/four days per week, he get plenty of exercise with the kids. The
crate training is awesome; he goes right in with no issues. He doesn't bark
needlessly. He is potty trained, even stands by the door and lets you know
he has to go. If you have any more like him, let me know!
Thank you, Scott
Juicy
She is doing well, we named her Toffee because of her coloring. She loves our other two dogs . Its funny, she loves Pepper our border collie like a mom and she likes to play with Chewey our wheaton terrier. She seemed very timid at first but has gotten very attached to me since I am home alot right now. She is getting less timid with my husband too. She has a lot of energy and is pretty fiesty but she is also very sweet when she calms down. Likes to eat too no matter what it is, we have learned to guard our food.
I will send pictures when I figure out how to download them to the computer. We are very happy with her and she seems to be happy too.
Thank you again and for all you guys do to help animals. I wish I could adopt more but my husband has drawn the line at three. I will work on him though.

Hey..Second Chance,
C D`s name has been changed to "Bubbles". I think, she has a bubbly personality. She`s adjusting pretty well. She went to ya`lls vet & we learned she had hook worms, but weighs 8.3 pounds. There is 3 visits to make sure Bubbles gets rid of`em & 1 more to go. She has the little razor teeth, but her back teeth are coming in really good. She has learned to sit, give 5 & 10 (paw), lay, fetch & retrieve, is okay with bath time & goes potty in her spot, ( as I`m training her inside). She gets so scared, so easy. She`ll learn on her own time & I can deal with that. It makes it easier for her to learn different things, so she doesn`t get bored. Bubbles thinks, we are playing games. She has all kinds of toys, bones & sleep toy & like to go to bed around 10pm & loves the fan breeze on. Bubbles, knows when she does a gr8 deed, she gets a treat & where they are stored. What is really cute........... if I don`t notice right away........she comes to me & says,,,ummmmm & I go & look at what she wants me to see & she runs to the treat container. I know, who`s training........who. She `s so smart.
I`m so happy, "Second Chance", has let us adopt her, as she has brighten up our days & bought alotta of her love as we have for her & for many years to come, too.
She has seen her vet & she just loves her doctor, "Creature Comforts". He gave her 3rd series of shots & the last series will be on April 12th. She will get heart preventive & Sentel (?) flea stuff. She now weighs 13 lbs. & is 12 wks, today.
When I get better pictures of her I will send`em to ya`ll. I want you to all to know, how Beautiful Bubbles really is!!
Sincerely, Tina Largesse
Angie
Angie who is now called Pokie, is doing great. She immediately became a part of the family and everyone, including the poodle loves her. She offers comic relief and has endless energy. She is growing quickly and has doubled in size since we received her. Her loving demeanor is a good indication that she will become a wonderful cat and brighten our lives for years to come. Thank you for the service that you provide these animals.
