Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Tilly
Tilly

Hello We changed her name to Harley T, keeping the T for Tilly. She is doing wonderful. She gets along great with the other 2 dogs, and she likes the cats, even though they don't care for her:) She is doing well on learning simple commands and asking to go outside. She is a joy and I am very lucky. Pics will follow soon

Tulip

Hi Kathy, Tulip, who we have renamed Tori (she didn't seem like a Tulip to us and she accepted the new name and answers to it), is WONDERFUL. House-breaking is going well. She has some really good days but sometimes 'forgets' to let us know she needs to go outside. She is blending into the family as only a puppy can.. by 'terrorizing' the other animal members of our home. LOL. Our 14yr old Maine-coon seems to be getting along with her more except for when Tori wants to 'play' then Missy just swats her and walks away. Kodi, our 6yr old tuxedo male cat, is intrigued by Tori and allows her to approach but generally walks/runs away when Tori gets into 'play' mode. The recipient of most of Tori's tireless energy is Reva, our 10yr old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. They take each other's toys and wrestle until they both plop down on the floor for a nap. Tori loves to curl up next to Reva.. it is sooo cute. I've attached some pictures of Tori so you can see how much she has grown. I weigh her every Thursday and she last weighed in at 28.2 lbs. She has such long legs that she reminds me of a new-born giraffe sometimes. She has mastered SIT and we are working on STAY. She hasn't quite gotten HEEL as she always wants to tear off like a bandit when we go outside but we are practicing. What else can I tell you other than we are totally in love with her. She has the sweetest disposition and is very loving. We are so glad that we 'found' her and were able to bring her home with us. Regards, Claudia

Nutmeg

Nutmeg, Now named Shyla is doing excellent. I had a few issues at first because I have a cat but they have kind of gotten used to each other. And she has come to understand she cannot eat the cat. :) Thank you very much for allowing me to adopt her, she is now a life-long family member to myslef, my 4 year old daughter (who by the way lays on her while watching TV, and my fiance. She brightens our day when we come to see her wagging tail when we get home from work. I will send pictures soon.

Spot
Spot

Hi Kathy Sorry, I sent an email a few weeks ago with pics that must not have been received. :-( Everything is GREAT. Spot is VERY HAPPY here and we are equally HAPPY. He and our other dogs are doing well, playing together. Spot is attached to my hip as he follows me everywhere, which I LOVE. I will try attaching a pic taken at petsmart of him and I, one of him and my partner Shawn, and one of him lying in the sun. thank you for everything, we all could not be happier. Mathew

Yonita
Yonita

Hi Kathy, We changed her name to Zoey. We didn't like yonita and I don't think she did either considering she didn't answer to it. Anyhow, Zoey is a wonderful addition to our Home! Lilly and her play together everyday and get plenty of exercise. She is potty trained and very smart and coming along great! As you can see from the picture below, Zoey cleans up very well!!! We were a little nervous when we brought her home with the way she looked, but everything is working out very well!!! She's getting lots of love and giving us lots of love in return. Jenn and are so happy that Zoey is a part of our lives! Thank You! Jason
