Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Nina
Nina

Hi Kathy, Thank you for the follow up! Nina...who is now formally known as Twix...is doing great! We have visited the vet twice so far for her check up and immunizations. She has been placed on Revelation and has received a clean bill of health. We are still working on house training with her. She is home with someone all day so she is doing very well with it. Twix loves the kids and they adore her and we look forward to watching them grow together. Thank you so much! Danny

Asoka
Asoka

Hello Kathy, It is nice to hear from you. She came with two names Asoka and Abby (on the paperwork) and the foster family said she responded best to Abby, hence what we call her. Abby is a delight, sweet, playful, well behaved, although she needs some training, and extremely good natured. She is currently undergoing treatment for worms, mange, parasites and a mite infestation. She is responding extremely well to the treatment and I am taking her for her second "dip" on Monday. I have yet to socialize her as the vet said that she needed to fight the current mite problem before being exposed to other dogs. This has prevented me from taking her for training and the dog park but I expect to be able to do so soon. The vet said it would take a while for the mange to dissipate, but it is almost completely gone with the hair all but grown back. She seems very happy and does well with the crate. She and the cat are getting along pretty well although its a good thing the cat is declawed. I have made arrangements for someone to come in M-F to walk her and play. I know the family and I know that Kelly will be good to Abby. I am fortunate to live a block from the beach and take her there at night as I get home at 11:30. She enjoys the beach but has yet to venture near the water. Although Abby has only been here a month it seems as though she has always been here. I look forward to many years with her and feel that I am fortunate to found such a beautiful wonderful animal and can't say enough how much she means to me already. Thank you again for everything. Everyone that I have dealt with in your organization has shown a great level of commitment and caring. I am not so good with photos, just took a few and the batteries in the camera died so I will send them out separately to you later today. Please feel free at anytime to initiate a home visit. Enjoy the weekend.

Xavier

My name is Jennifer Borowski and we were fortunate enough to adopt our max from a second chance( his name was Xavier ). We have since moved to Connecticut and he is loving life up here! He has to be the absolute best dog ever and I comb petfinder on a regular basis up here to find another addition to our family. I wish we could have your organization up here because we had such a great experience with everyone down there. Thanks again for all you do and max especially thanks you!!! Jennifer

Pumpkin

Hi Kathy, Pumpkin now goes by Tabs. He’s adorable, healthy, playful and loving. The scratching, biting and destruction are more than I have experienced with my previous two kitties, but we are working on behavior, providing teething toys and chews, and doing additional kitty proofing. The “Tabs anecdotes” are mounting. One of my favorites to date: I heard an unfamiliar sound, looked around and found Tabs springing off the dining room table smacking the chandelier. I had to remove that fun toy from him by wrapping it tightly in a plastic bag! I just have to say that Jan Carlson who arranged our adoption is a very kindhearted individual who is to be commended for her efforts to save our fuzzy babies; also thank you to you and all of your wonderful volunteers. After many blurry pics, we finally managed to get this one .
