Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Honey
Honey

Kathy, Honey is doing just fine - settled in with the outside cat, Blackie, who I had spayed and given his rabies shot. They play together and wait for am and pm feedings in my kitchen. Honey barks at anyone or thing that she is not familiar with. She plays in my yard with several toys I bought her. Active as can be and loves to jump my front fence. I keep her inside unless my renter is up and watching her or I am home. Plan on putting a higher fence to block her from the front yard, so I can feel safe leaving the back pet door open for her to come and go as she chooses. I am feeding her canned (Iams) and dry food (Science Diet) without any problems. I take her out in the early morning when I water my roses. The Summer of Love rose I planted in honor of Sandy, has a least 5 rose blooms and is doing great.

Gwen
Gwen

Hiya Kathy, Thank you so much, Gwen is doing great she is putting on some weight and plays really hard with our cat. Luckily she is very very fast. Wondering of a distant greyhound in the mutt family lines?? LOL She is just a happy lil puppy. Seems a bit skittish at times, but our children can be really loud and crazy when they get excited, but she does love the quiet time in her "house" which is at the foot of our bed. Tends to put herself to the crate when she needs some alone time. She runs hard in our back yard and does thoroughly enjoys the scraps our kids drops if she is faster than me or my wife when it comes to seeing the food. But 98% of her diet is the Kirkland premium dog food which she loves. I have attached some random photos of Gwen's new life and friends. Please keep in touch, and thank you so much for blessing us with this sweet Gwen.

Cuddy
Cuddy

Hi there, Cuddy is doing great and has adjusted very well to her new habitat. She now goes by the name Zara in our house and seems to be really enjoying life. The Vet says she is very healthy and she is very active, just what we wanted. Thanks so much for the help! -- Have a Blessed Day, Thomas J. Farina Jr.

Libre
Libre

Hello, We have been so blessed to have adopted Libre (now named Buddy). He is the perfect combination of high energy and lazy when he wants to be :) We have had to constantly give him something to chew, because he has destroyed all the toys we gave him the first day! He had some accidents in the house, but thankfully we have all tile floors. We are having some trouble with crate training. One of the gentlemen volunteers had told us which crate to buy, but it ended up being too big and he was able to do his "business" inside of it. We realized a few days later that there was a divider, so that has helped some. He has gotten a little spoiled because we couldn't take the whining so we let him sleep in his bed instead of the crate at night. Our son loves Buddy SOOO much! He is constantly trying to play with him and unfortunatly teasing him too. Buddy is very much loved and we are very happy with our adoption! I have attached some pictures...Buddy has become quite comfortable :) Rodriguez Family

Jason
Jason

Jason is now Legs, for obvious reasons. He has adjusted very well and is driving us crazy with his "puppiness". It has been a long time since we have had a puppy around. His ear infection is gone, he has had a check-up, and additional vaccinations. He and our 9 year old Maltese, Diamond, are working things out. Legs wants to play and Diamond wants no part of that, so there is some squabbling going on. That, I am sure, will work itself out in time. All in all, all is well, and I am convinced Legs is going to be a great dog. Thank you for Legs and for all the good work you do. Sincerely, Carol and Dick Wolf
