Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Frankie
Frankie

Hi Kathy, Thank you for taking the time to check on our new little family. Freddie and Falcon have been renamed to Pip and Squeek. I have attached a few pictures of them in their new home. We have been to our vet twice and have had their booster shots. We have one other cat in the house named Lou. We are slowly introducing them and so far it has gone very well. No hissing, spitting or scratching. Pip is the darker colored tabby and Squeek is more blonde. Thing are going great and I am very appreciative for all you have done to create our little furry family. I have recommended your organization to many of my friends and actually my boss adopted a dog named Bucky the week after I got Pip and Squeek. Everyone is so happy together.

Garson
Garson

It's been about 3 months now and Zoey (aka Garson) had totally made herself at home. She has her own little pool to play in on those hot days and a nice backyard with enough room for her to run and play catch with her favorite Frisbee. She also has a playdate every Saturday at the Pooch Pines Dog Park and loves to run with the other dogs. She is truly a joy to have around, and I look forward to a long and happy life with her. Thank you again for bringing this little bundle of fur into my life. Her facebook page has several pictures and a few videos if you'd like to link on your webpage it is

Jazz
Jazz

I would like to thank you for allowing my daughter and I the chance to give Jazz a home. He is SUCH a sweet boy and learning all the time. He can sit and "give paw" now on command. His "accidents" are rare and he has free run of the house while we are there. He is growing too!! He can now jump up onto ALL the beds in the house and the sofa and feels just at home on any of them as we do...lol. He will jump right up onto any of them and put his head in our lap....and he, although growing, will probably always be a lap dog. :) He LOVES to play fetch and "wrestle" with us. Whenever we leave the house, he IS crated and feels very safe and happy there. Whenever we give him special treats, that is where he sometimes goes to eat them. Jazz is a wonderful puppy, growing every day and quite the little "lover-boy". He is friendly to all that he meets, whether human, canine or even feline. There isn't a single day that goes by that hasn't been improved by having him, and we like to think he feels the same. Thank you 2nd Chance- you gave my daughter and I a great gift, and we like to think that Jazz feels the same way!!! Thank you, Rob, Riley and Jazz Tanner

Ubu
Ubu

Tucker (formerly Ubu) is doing great. We had a little problem in the beginning as he turned out to have worms when I adopted him, but he seems to be recovering nicely. He's pretty much completely house-trained and eats like a horse. My other dog, Bella, loves Tucker but is quick to let him know she's the boss. They spend the majority of the day playing together and it's not uncommon to see Tuck flying off the couch to tackle her. All that playing tends to wear them out, so we all take a nap every afternoon, and Tucker's favorite spot is curled up on the pillow right next to my head :) I couldn't be happier with Tucker & the great addition he is to my little family! Thanks so much for following up, I'll send pictures this weekend. Thanks,

Hi! She is doing well. I've since changed her name to Leelu. The first day she came home she made herself at home. She is an awesome little girl. So much love and playfulness she has. Last week we started our puppy training with a trainer. It was good to see how fast she was picking up simple commands. She's an intelligent little girl a little overexcited, but expected in my opinion for a cutey furball.. I totally love her and I can tell she loves being around me. :D I attached some photos of her. Thank you so much for the opportunity in letting me care for her in her new forever home. She is definitely getting lots of love from me and my family. Thoughtfully, Arlene
