Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Iggy

Hi Kathy (and everyone else at A Second Chance), We are so happy to be writing you to tell you how well Otis (formerly Iggy) is doing! He has adjusted so well to his new home! Otis is fully potty trained, and listens very well! His big bother helps by setting an example but Otis, at 3months old, responds to, "out of the kitchen," "down," "sit," "inside," "outside," "potty," "treat" and a few more . :) We could not be happier with the progress he's making! We taught Kingston (our 2 yr old Chocolate lab) the "leave it" command now that we have a teething puppy in the house and they are sharing toys so well!! We attached some pictures for you, hope you enjoy!! Thank you for all the hard work you all do to give these sweet loving puppies a home. We love having Otis here, he is the perfect addition to our family. :) Best Regards, Sara, Jorge, Kingston, and Otis

Holly

Hi Kathy, Thank you for following up. Holly is absolutely wonderful. She has taken to her new environment and the kids very well. She is so mellow at times, and then she gets her second wind and runs around the yard like a crazy person. It is so much fun having her as a companion. Right now we are using kennel training to help with her progress. She is doing good with that, but still has her moments. Overall, we couldn't be happier. The kids love her and holly loves them. They give each other kisses(licks) every night before bed and every morning before school. It is so cute. I have attached a picture of her with the kids. Thank you again for giving us this opportunity. Sincerely, The Jones Family

Foxy

Hello: Foxy is now "Nugget" and she's doing beautiful! She loves her sisters and they play constantly! She is sweet and full of love! We go to the El Rio Trail everyday for a 1-1/2 mile walk. She's wonderful! Attached are a couple of pictures. I'll send more as time goes by. Thank you for letting me have this joy! Warmest Regards, Mary Sawran

Shy
Shy

Hi Kathy, Shy is doing so great! My daughter actually changed her name to Chloe. She is getting so big and is always wanting to play. We have a big back yard that is fenced in so we are outside with her a lot. She is still getting used to walking on a leash. We are looking into obedient classes at pet smart. Thank you for everything, Chloe is such a wonderful addition our family. Korina Schoch

Robin

hi kathy, robin is doing well. her name is now currie. she has lots of friends, plus everyone in my big family adores her. she is discovering more and more of the world each day. last night she was amazed by sprinklers. it's really fun to watch her explore and learn. and sometimes she gets so excited she barks at new things, like my roommate's caged parrot who incidentally pays her zero attention. her bark is tiny like her. she is thirteen weeks and two days old, and still very much a puppy. she loves to chew on just about everything, especially my hands. she hasn't had the oportunity to damage anything, perhaps because she is so small and would require more time than can steal away from supervision. she loves to chew on my hands. please let me know if there's a toy that would provide the same texture and enjoyment for her! she has a healthy diet. she eats blue buffalo, i think it's called, and seems to like it a lot. i'm still looking for treats small enough for her. i'm working hard to set her up to succeed at potty training. she's responding well to the routine i'm trying to teach her. but boy this is hard work! she has a crate but i allow her to sleep with me at night. we both like that a lot. :) i've tried sending pictures with this email but your mailbox is too full. email me back for pictures if you want. about the adoption process, i think it went very smoothly. and every person i came into contact with seemed very caring about the animals and their welfare. i'm thankful for the opportunity to give currie a second chance because there's nothing more rewarding than earning her love.
