Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Ree-Cee
Ree-Cee

Hi Kathy :) We're all doing fine... Ree-Cee is growing so fast. When we adopted her she was 7.5 pounds and the obvious runt. Three weeks later she's 20 lbs and has filled out nicely! She and our older dog get along well... he's almost 10 so he's not keen on running around with her but they co-exist fine. When adopted, she had hook worms and coccidia but that's been treated. All healthy on her last checkup this past Saturday. Once we're past the teething and the potty training, we'll be in a more comfortable position. Ree-Cee's just learned to ring the bells at our door to go out so that is a major step. Teething we'll just have to endure until it's done but she's not teething on furniture...just our hands. So things are good :)

Ruby
Ruby

Ruby is doing great. We both have adjusted quickly to each other. She is almost 25 lbs now and growing fast. She loves to play with our neighbors American bulldog. She suprisingly holds her own against the larger dog. She loves going out to Bedner's farm where she socializes with every kid their. Ruby is very smart and responding well to training. She can sit, lay, give her paw and heal. She is very good on lead and getting better with off lead training. She is learning how to speak and smile on command. Cute little trick. We are very happy with her. Can't wait until she replaces those needles in her mouth with her adult teeth.

Oasis
Oasis

Oasis is great! We have renamed her Bailey. She is growing up quick on us and is 100% puppy. She is doing fine with the house training, very few accidents now. We just love her! Family, Friends and Racecars... What more could you ask for? Baseball!!! Curt and Dawn Perry

Orlando

Dear Kathy - Thanks so much for your followup letter - we are very happy with our new addition, Orlando (who we have renamed "Dusty"). He seemed to adjust to our household with no problem, and he has been having a wonderful time exploring his new territory. For the most part he does very well in letting us know when he has to go outside, or in finding the paper we've set out. It only took him about a week to sleep through the night. He's a very social little dog, quickly making friends with all the other dogs in the neighborhood - he especially likes to play with Dixie Lee, a Golden Retriever, and Bruno, a Bull Dog (he definitely thinks he's a big dog!) He definitely loves his Mama and Pop - he immediately runs to greet me every night when I come in from work! When we first brought Orlando (Dusty) home, we did find that he had worms, and he was a little lethargic. However, when he went to the vet and received his worming medication, the problem cleared up, and he began gaining weight. He would eat us out of house and home if we'd let him! I'm attaching a picture! Adele Stoops

Little Lady
Little Lady

She is doing great. She is still getting use to being introduced to new people. However, we have bonded quite nicely. Just wish she could talk at times so she could explain what people have done to her to make her look so sad at times. There is another Chihuahua in my condo court and they love to play. I think you have created a great organization and are to be commended what you do for these lost and abused animals. Feel free to check up on her at anytime. Wendy Lombard
