Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Sebastian

Hi Kathy! Hope the New Year has found you all well... Sebastian is doing wonderfully! He is just adorable and we all love him very much! He is doing excellent with his "potty training" and is being "tolerated" by the other four legged members of the family! :-) They will even let their guard down long enough to play with him from time to time, too! I believe he thinks Diamond is his "surrogate Mom" and likes to hang out with her whenever possible. It's adorable! Both of the kids have been pitching in with the puppy chores as well as with his training which has made it a very easy transition for all. He is very entertaining and has provided a lot of joy to our household. He is our little "rascal" and has definitely found his voice... or should I say, his "beagle howl!" :-) Everyone who meets him falls in love with him straight away. He finished his last series of shots so now he's all set... if we could only get him to stop "grazing" in the yard, it would be fantastic! :-) Thanks for checking in on us and thank you all for the wonderful and important work that you do! Sincerely, The Sementino Family P.S. I am attaching a picture of our little boy...

Billy

I'm so happy to hear from you! And we are very glad to provide you with an update on our (renamed Billy) Picasso. He is now just past 3 months old and as cute a fellow as you've ever seen. We have elected to keep him as an indoor cat, but we will never have him declawed. We feel that is inhumane and tantamount to amputation. It is a challenge to ensure he remains inside as he is frisky and inquisitive and would love to venture where he has never been yet :) so we provide him with plenty of indoor activity, toys and things to chase around, and try to keep him well-exercised (don't want a fatso cat!) He is very well-adjusted, and a loving addition to our family. We took him to the River Bridge Animal Hospital for his post-adoption follow up visit, and he had a perfect checkup there. Picasso loves water! He loves to jump into my sink and loves a damp washcloth bathing, especially his ears. He never misses an opportunity to come into the shower, and although he does stand back from the falling water, he wants to be on the inside! Picasso is friendly and cuddly and always wants to be wherever we are. We could not have custom-ordered a better kitty, and are very pleased with him.

Owen

Everything is fantastic with Owen (now Henry). He is adjusting very well and is such a joy to have in our home. My two older dogs have been really good with Henry - sometimes he has a little too much puppy energy for them, but my lab mix loves to play with him and they all curl up together to take a nap. Henry will start puppy kindergarten on Monday, but he already knows "sit" and "stay" and is not having any accidents in the house. Thank you for checking on us and thanks so much for the opportunity to adopt Henry. He has been a welcome and wonderful addition to our home. I've attached several pictures of Henry, including a few with older siblings!

Sunshine
Sunshine

Hello Everyone, I want to thank you for such a wonderful girl. Skye as you know her as "Sunshine" is growing every day! She loves jumping over fallen trees and running up mounds that are on our property. She is already housebroken ! What a smart girl. She is very outgoing and playful, and when it is just us old folks at home, she is mellow and loving. She has already become a social butterfly. She loves to go to the beach with my daughter and her friends. I have the always bored niece, who never wants to leave anymore. Everyone loves her to pieces!!! She has my husband wrapped around her paw! Thank you again! I have given your rescue website to anyone who has asked about Skye. I hope her brothers and sisters have made their new parents just as happy.
