Animal Success Stories

As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek!  Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes.  We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families.  If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story!  Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Jyngle
Jyngle

Hi there, Thanks for contacting us regarding Jyngle (aka Bella), she is doing really great. All the kids and our other dogs as well as cats just adore her. We are working really hard at training her to potty outside and only chew the approved toys (couches are not allowed!) as well as sleeping through the night…this she is finally getting the hang of. She is growing very quickly. She is just about grown out of her second collar J I will attach a few pics…Enjoy!

Twilite
Twilite

This letter is regarding Twilite, now named Bailey. He has adjusted very well to his new home. We have had a few routine checkups with Dr. Fox and all is well. We are looking forward to starting our puppy classes next week at Petsmart. Our other dog, 11 yrs old, a Shih tzu is tolerant of him and teaching him his boundaries. Bailey is being crated and does very well. WE are all happy to have Bailey as a new memeber of our family! Thank you...

Wish

Hi, Wish is now known as Amaya and she is doing great, we just love her! She has quickly bonded with her beagle sister, Mikkei and making her way into her other sister, Keelah's heart. She is very busy with them. On Saturday she had a puppy check up and the vet said she is a healthy 3.9 pounds. The beginning of April she will be getting her rabies vaccination. We are still working on the potty training and just today she started using the big girl door (doggy door), we are so proud of her. I am also waiting for her needles to fall out and her big girl teeth to come in. We are also working on what the vet refers to as temper tantrums when she doesn't get her way (I understand this is common in Chi's). So far whenever she goes for a car ride she lays on me and falls asleep. She also does really good on keeping up with her sisters during walks. Thank you for allowing us to adopt her. Karen & Walter

Dumpling
Dumpling

she goes for weekly car rides with our other dog and now looks forward to them. Her best friend and partner in crime is our daughters 15 pound cat Hatchet. We found out if we did not close the Kabob bag, we caught the cat actually using his paw to get a treat out of the bag and toss it on the floor to her. We also got a new fence to cover half acre lot in backyard and she gets plenty of exercise playing catch every night. She still has a smaller area she is restricted to during the day, but plenty of room to exercise. She loves water - when watering plants outside, she gets under the spray from the hose trying to catch/eat the water.....we also have a walk in shower, and every weekday, she walks in on her own with me and gets wet - think she does it for the full towel rubdown afterward, but her coat is so silky. You were right, she does love to dig holes, but so far they are just random throughout the yard, and at least not at the fence line. From day one she has slept with us in the bed and loves it. She is such a good happy puppy, and a quick learner. We had lost our mini dachshound on 1/11/11 and our other dog was soo lonely. I and so happy fate brought me to Petsmart / 2nd Chance that day when I had just came back from the Humane Society as unable to find a smaller dog, and we have been blessed to have Hashi as part of the family. She is just perfect for us :)

Lunar
Lunar

Hope I attached this photo correctly :) This is one of my favorite taken the day after Whiskey officially became a Shaw. It's her big brother "Roo" (also a 2nd Chance Rescue) and he's 'showing her the ropes'. She was already 20 lbs, three weeks ago at her first check up, and Lord only knows how much she will weigh in at this weekend! (Her 'big' brother Roo was only 16.2 lbs and at his age we doubt he'll get bigger) She 'thinks' she has graduated from her crate at night to the big family bed, but sitting up on the edge to whine and go pee in the night is costing everyone else a TAD too much sleep...acceptable when no one has to be at work or school the next day! but she hasn't quite figured the days of the week out yet! We are all working on this !!! :D She's your typical puppy, she has another big brother Keiko and another big sister Makaya, and two two-legged sisters in the house Dani and Cheyenne. They are all very close, love to be outside exploring the roots of the grass, the tall grass and hiding behind the shed together so mommy has a heart attack when she can't see them! Each of them are sharing his and/or her most interesting habits with Whiskey and she's catching right on!! Hope this helps, and again, THANK YOU for letting us share in the adoption of more love into our 'Shaw Clan'...'' Tina and Robert Shaw ((Dani, Cheyenne, Makaya, Keiko, Roo and Whiskey))
