Animal Success Stories
As an all volunteer foster-based rescue group, successful adoption stories are the only compensation we seek! Our Foster Caretakers, who spend weeks or months loving the animals in their care, always want to know how their “babies” are doing once they have found their forever homes. We hope that the adoption of a pet is not the end of a process but the beginning of a relationship between A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue and our adoptive families. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from us, please share your story! Success Stories and pictures can be sent to adoptions@asecondchancerescue.org.

Vito
hi kathy-
i tried a few times to email you and attach pics from my phone to let
you know how our precious little "dude" is doing but it always seemed
to erase itself. Vito-who is now Hank- is amazing and has brought a
ton of joy to our ENTIRE family! I know I told you about Sparky, my 5
yr old rescue that had died a few months ago and how much not just me,
but my parents too just adored him... and how his death just devestated
me (my boyfriend loved him, too, but hadn't been around him but for
just a year before he passed away). well, in addition to Sparky being
attacked and taken from us by a freakish amount of cancer, my parents
dog Oscar died just 2 months before Sparky. He was 14 yrs old, but it
devestated my parents just the same-especially my big tough-guy father.
When we got Hank and fell in love with him the first day I could tell
my dad though nice to him, felt like he was betraying Oscar some, but
Sparky a WHOLE lot by letting little Hank into his heart. Just because
Sparky was his buddy/grandpuppy and he felt guilty..but Hank being the
sweetheart fun, cuddlebug he is has just melted my dads heart like you
wouldn't believe in record time! :) I think its surprised everyone
because my dad has been so incredibly hurt by the back to back losses
of his k-9 son and his k-9 grandson that i think it has shocked him
more then anyone and how much he has fallen for the little guy!
Hank has healed my heart and my family in more ways then you can
imagine and what you all do there-the foster parenting and the
screening you all do, the no-kill facility- its amazing and i love what
you all do there. you have given us a gift without even knowing how
much-without even US knowing-how much it would mean to my family. he
is the coolest little puppy (he has gotten SOOOO big though!) and is
exactly what was missing in our lives. he is pure comedy with his
crazy ear that sticks up straight every so often and has a great time
running while my boyfriend takes him for bike rides (hes done this with
all my dogs and they love them!). he sure is a happy puppy and makes
us incredibly happy, too.
we are so blessed additionally because with my boyfriends schedule, he
can spend 4-5 days a week, full days, with him (he is a fireman) while
i work and then when hes working and so am i, my parents pick both my
dogs up for a sleepover at grandma and grandpas house..
im attaching some pics of the crazy little ball of joy and once again,
thank you for all you have done for Hank and all the other "Hank" and
"Hank-ettes" :) out there you have placed. we are so lucky to have him
now in our lives..
sincerely,
katie (katherine) berish
Zzelda
Hello,
Zzelda is doing pretty well. She is all puppy. Our biggest problem is the biting. She likes to chew for sure. That is not a huge problem. The biting is a concern. We are going to sign her up for training classes this week. She is cute and basically sweet. Hopefully the biting situation will improve.
She is getting along okay with the cat. She is aggressive with her sometimes, the same as she is with us. I will be taking her in for her rabies shot hopefully this week.
Dyson
Hi Shelley!
You asked us to email you to let you know how Dyson was doing. He is such a sweet dog. I think he is getting used to living with us. He loves playing with our other dog Krypto. We took him to Dr Fox for his wellness check last Friday. Everything was good. Dr Fox doesn't know what the bump on his nose is, so he would like to remove it. This past weekend we took the dogs to Andrew's parent's to play with their 2 labs and they had so much fun! I also took them to doggie day care on Monday. It seemed like they had a lot of fun getting to play with other dogs... and they crashed when we got home! We are so happy to have Dyson in our lives. I will send pictures soon!

Elly
I am sorry it took me this long to answer. I just want you to know that Elly is doing great. She is a good girl and she has adjusted beautifully to our family. She is very smart and playful. We love her. The only problem we are working on, is training her to urinate outdoors. We hope that as she matures she will be fully trained.
Thank you very much for all you do.
May God Bless you,
Love,
Olga Alvarez
Venys
Hi,
Thank you so much for the congratulations! Our new addition, previously named Venys by Second Chance, is doing exceptionally well as Vincent (van Gogh)! We love him already like an original member of the family. He has had his shots and checkups through his rabies shot and has even started attending Puppy Training class at PetSmart. He loves people (people love him!), other dogs, and to play hard. He is almost fully house trained. In fact, he goes to the front door and barks once to take us out for his potty run! He also loves to ride in the car no matter where we go and absolutely has to be close to us at all times. He is sooooooooo sweet!
Thank you so much for this opportunity! It has added so much to our lives. We now can't imagine life without Vincent.
Regards,
Debra Hill, Cynthia Revilla and Vincent
