Description:My name is Mary and I am a 7 month old Lab mix (I may be mixed with Whippet.) I am currently 33 lbs but the vet thinks I may be a petite lab and grow to maybe no more than 50 lbs. I was going to be euthanized by a local shelter because I was sick, abused and very skinny but my foster mom saved me.
I have been getting a lot of TLC, attention and training - and I am now finally starting to trust people again. My true personality is starting to shine – and I am a real sweetheart! I am an adorable, loveable, playful pup – and I LOVE… NEED to be around people. I do like to cuddle and get belly rubs. I’m good with kids. I am a very active puppy and like to play and romp. I absolutely LOVE my toys and play well by myself… but of course I love playing fetch with people better! I also enjoy playing with other dogs and especially enjoy going to the dog park. I do need some supervision with other dogs since I still like to “puppy play” – paw and bite ankles – but my foster mom is teaching me better manners.
I already know basic obedience commands – sit, lie down, stay – and I am learning tricks too. I don’t bark when people come to the door or when she seeing other dogs. I walk well on a leash (except I do like to chase lizards!) and I am doing very well at my house-break training. I will whine to let you know I need to go out. But I am still a puppy so I need to go outside often – if you are not home to let me out I will go on a wee pad.
Due to my abusive past, I am still very sensitive and can be scared of new experiences/people. I also am very scared of the crate. It may take me a few days to adjust to new surroundings. I need a special home where I will get a lot of attention and live inside with my new family. I don’t like to be left alone, but I am learning to stay by myself for several hours a day already. I usually whimper for a few minutes but then will get in my bed and wait patiently for someone to return.
I already have my own king sized bed that I love to flop in and I stay in my bed throughout the night – I don’t wander and get into trouble, or cry. My bed and much-loved stash of toys will go with me to my new home.
I am a typical lab puppy – I’m high energy and need lots of walks and play time. It would be great if I had a back yard to run in – or someone to take me for daily walks and to the park a few times so I can release my puppy energy!! But I also love to mellow out and just follow my family around from room to room and be a part of whatever they are doing!
If you would like to meet me, please contact my foster mom at cindyampservices@comcast.net or 561-603-1784 / 561-333-0335 so that we can set up a meet and greet. I will also be at Petsmart on 441 and/or Red Barn on Saturday.
I can’t wait to meet you and show you what a good dog I am!
