Adoption Shuttle -- Sunday November 2nd, 2008
PRESS RELEASE:
GERTRUDE MAXWELL UNVEILS ADOPTION SHUTTLE FOR A SECOND CHANCE PUPPIES AND KITTENS RESCUE
West Palm Beach, Fl ( November 10, 2008 )
With the foreclosures on the uproar, the economy on the downhill, more and more family pets are left behind displaced and on their own. In effort to assist in transporting the pets to adoption sites, A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue have purchased and unveiled an Adoption Shuttle.
On November 2nd , 2008, during the Harley Davidson of Palm Beach Customer Appreciation Party, volunteers, sponsors, and a loyal friend, and our loyal friend, who was very instrumental in assisting A Second Chance with securing the shuttle. Ms. Gertrude Maxwell, Founder, President and CEO of Save A Pet, came together to unveil the Adoption Shuttle, which is a vehicle outfitted to safely transport the pets to various adoption sites.
Peter J. Torres, Co-Founder and President of A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue, says that having Ms. Gertrude Maxwell as a mentor, strengthens, and energizes the many volunteers that dedicate many hours to animal rescue. “We know that we can not save them all, but at least we can look at Ms Maxwell and know that someday we will make a difference as she hasâ€
“A voice for the voiceless animals who cannot speak for themselves,†Gertrude Maxwell is one of the most outspoken defenders of unwanted and homeless companion pet animals. She is a strong opponent of animal euthanasia, insisting that spaying, neutering and efforts to promote adoption are humane answers to pet overpopulation problems.
The National Save-A-Pet Foundation Inc. and Save-A-Pet Florida, Inc. strongly support animal laws to prevent animal abuse, cruelty and predetermined death for millions of man's best friends. They advocate more federal and state involvement, including national and state subsidy and rebate programs, to provide free spay and neuter services to pet owners in proven dire circumstances and low-cost spay and neuter services to other pet owners as a humane solution to pet overpopulation. Nation-wide, state by state and county by county, subsidy and rebate programs would require legislation, education, participation and cooperation from veterinarians and the cooperation of pet owners. By preventing unwanted births and reducing the pet population by sterilization, taxpayers could save millions of tax dollars by eliminating the need of more and larger shelters.
A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue was founded after identifying that the shelter resources could not provide the care necessary for pregnant dogs and cats nor to raise puppies and kittens until ready for adoption. The all volunteer, 501 (c) 3 group, combines a no-nonsense goal of saving animals lives with the blood, sweat and tears of countless volunteers, and financial supports from various donors (individuals and corporations alike). In its second year the group is growing rapidly and has established relationships with various pet stores throughout Palm Beach County and Broward County.
The group’s knowledge base is steeped with both common sense and research driven processes. A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue, Inc. limits who is allowed to adopt or foster understanding that in order to break the homeless animal cycle a good match must be made. To assure a healthy adoption process random home inspections and follow up contact are a part of every adoption. Though time consuming in human hours these steps help many rescued pets find their right forever family. As an ALL volunteer 501 (c) 3 animal rescue group, the group relies solely on donations. We hope that everyone becomes a part of our efforts to save the homeless animals – Spay /neuter your pet!
